After weighing the opinions and arguments for and against the Chimp Challenge, I am convinced it was a great thing whose best days are behind it. Too many teammates I respect have unfavorable feelings about it.

The Captaincy is up for grabs. I am stepping down as team captain. If there is anyone else who would like to move forward as a team captain and carry on with the Chimp Challenge, I’ll gladly get you in touch with the other team captains.

Come May 5th at 12:00pm PST, my machine will be folding for the "gsmitheman" username.

You & Doc know my suggestion but I will add it here for everyone else-

How about something where we all turn machines to his name for a certain amount of days to see how high we can get it & if OC has lost someone on their team; they can do the same with that user name?

It will be a nice tribute by the 2 original teams; to members lost (we lost Stratplan to a heart attack a few years ago) & hopefully OC will be up for it.

For what it's worth, FT, my two cents is that I thought that you have made an excellent captain. I second magnumrules' appreciation and gratitude. Thank you, sir.

But totally understandable. As has been said here and in Strat Com - what the CC is now, is NOTHING like the fun it was when it started.

Looks like I missed the good times, tried to play last year but it just gets to hot by May.

Not sure about the reasoning but FT has always helped me.

Not to worry. My statement only pertains to representing the team for the CC.
I haven't been as active here lately due to an increased workload. My boss was in a car accident on Valentine's Day. She's recovering from leg, ankle, and back surgeries.

From the discussions in the Captains' Forum, it looks like this will be the last year it will be held in May. The other teams are pushing for an April date starting next year.

A bit off subject but I don't want to start a chimp challenge 2012 thread.
Can we us Gordon Smithman's account as out chimp challenge team name? Would that be appropriate or too much over-the-top?

I think that there was some other suggestion earlier on what to do for CC time here, but I'm folding for G and anyone/everyone is welcome to do so for however long they wish. I believe it's Devistator &/or FT and I folding for G. Feel free to join in. I'll be continuing to fold for G for the time being. I'm down my main rig, so the numbers aren't what I'd like them to be for him, but that's life. I might even fold for G until after the CC would be completed.

As stated before, MPC isn't going to officially participate in the CC this year, but we could do anything that we like with our points, so feel free.

It's your machine, do as you wish.
