Back in Dec 16, 2009, there was a MaximumPC Ultimate Guide to Playing and Transcoding Downloaded Videos. http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/video_faq
I'm trying to work my way through it and do all the stuff in it. I downloaded FFDShow and VLC Media Player. When I got to the part about FFDShow filtering, it's like they skipped the step on how to open a file. "Not only that, but you can apply various filters and other effects to just the right half of the video, giving you instant feedback and a point of comparison." Well, they don't say what player to use to open the file. I opened a sample video file that came with Win7 using VLC, checked the Picture Properties box, and messed around with the sliders. There was no difference in the right half or the whole thing. Am I missing something here, or is this guide less than ultimate?
