As we struggle with the loss of Gordon, it was quietly announced to the DAB by Dr. Pande that Mrs. Pande has been fighting Cancer for the past year and her treatments are currently not successful, suffering with side effects from the medications also. I know everyone reading this forum wishes her healing and recovery and renewed inner strength for Dr. Pande. We keep folding for them all.....

I've talked to nurses who said they used to work in the oncology wings of hospitals, but transferred because they couldn't take the emotional stress of seeing so many lose their battle with cancer. This feels a little like that, but it strengthens my resolve to stay here and do what I can.

My regards to Dr. and Mrs. Pande. May they find a course of treatment that will reverse her current path.

My God. Where does it end?
My prayers for strength and courage and any and all success for both Dr. and Mrs. Pande.

Yes, very sorry.

Also very glad parts of fah are working on cancer as well! As I've said many times before, the life you save may be your own...

As a reference*, the statistics say that...

In a lifetime, males have a 1 in 2 chance of developing cancer. 1 in 4 chance of dying from it.
In a lifetime, females have a 1 in 3 chance of developing cancer. 1 in 5 chance of dying from it.

If you consider an average family is a couple, plus their 2.3 children, about half of that family may get cancer in one form or another, during their lifetime. 1 might even die from it. Same goes for your 4 grandparents. 2 will likely get cancer, only 1 will recover from it.

Count my family as being very average also.

Doc, the headline of this one had me worried that you were going to tell us Elena was having trouble, again. Not that someone else being sick is any relief, but damn Doc!

7im, those are some scary statistics, indeed.

I'm sorry to read this.
Does anyone know what type she has?

We've had our share; My dad (Chemical related leukemia) passed 2/2006; few weeks later; my FIL passed suddenly from a rare brain / nervous system cancer; then a year later my MIL diagnosed with breast & my hub in 2009 with oral cancer.
