I'm much the same. Hadn't been on OCAU for a while and came back to find the news of Gordon's passing.

I have posted there, and will say it here too, that it was just so typical of the man that when OCAU passed 2 billion points it was Gordon who jumped onto our forum not just to congratulate us, but to start the thread congratulating us: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showt ... p?t=864036. His commitment and encouragement were extraordinary. A true gentlemen, and a great loss. Condolences to his family.

Thank you to Full_Taoer for posting on OCAU and letting us know.

Regards from downunder

Zaphid, aka Graham.Abbott on OCAU

Although it's been a long time since I've been here, I never thought this would be the thread I'd post in.

Although I've never met Gordon in person, I've never met a better man. Even when I all but stopped folding, we'd still PM every now and then. I'm proud to say that Gordon was a friend and that I shed more than a tear when I read the news. We've all lost someone very special. I'll be hoisting a toast to you tonight, G. You were loved and will definitely be missed.

Thank you, Blondie, for letting me know.

Gordon was at times a pain in the ass, but he was an honest, sincere, kind, enthusiastic, good and faithful one, and he was ours.
(Yes, G and I have passed many a PM with the above in it back and forth)....he will be missed.

I just read this and thought on Gordon and Rose:

The bridegroom gives everything he has for the bride, even
his life. The bride must do likewise. He calls her. If she says yes,
everything he has becomes hers, and everything she has becomes
his. Her burdens become his burdens, her sins become his sins. He
becomes hers, and she becomes his. She leaves her old life behind
for a new one, to go with her beloved. Wherever he goes, she goes
with him, and wherever she dwells, he never leaves her. He loves her
with all his being, as she loves him. The one lives for the other, and
the other for the one. The two become as one.

came back and visited the forum today after quite a few months. Was very sad to hear about Rose's passing then almost in tears when I read about Gordon. He was an amazing person, very welcoming here. I'll see his posts greatly.

He may not have been a a million ppd power folder, but I think many would agree that G was not simply one of F@H's Greatest Champions, but rather folding's greatest champion. It was a very sad day when I learned of Rose's & his passing, & even now more than 2 weeks later, I still have a hard time finding the words that I would like to express. With his passing the world seems a darker place.

Many will never fully realize how much Gordon & Rose touched the world of folding, but the fact that over $33,000 dollars was raised in just over a month for new servers at Stanford, goes to show that they did touch a great many people.

To Gordon & Rose's surviving family, I hope that the pain of your loss, is quickly replaced with the joy of the memories of all the good times you surely must have shared with such a wonderful couple.

I saw this the last time I was here, about two weeks ago. I couldn't see my screen or my keyboard after reading the first few sentences. Gordon was the heart and soul of this team. I can't think of much else to say that hasn't been said by others, so I'll just say this. Thank you, Gordon. May you and Rose be at peace together.

I was on a few weeks ago after not being around for a long time. I couldn't bring myself to accept the lose of a dear friend. Even now it's still not settled in that he is gone, ableit to a better place but we will all miss his presence throughout the forum. I would log in just to see the funny stuff he posted everyday. I'm trying to contain myself at work while I type this, I don't think an online friend has ever impacted me as much as him.

But I can bet if you added up all the people he helped and pushed and cheered on folding, He was the Million PPD folder. I still fold today soley because of him and his enthusiasm it will keep me folding for years to come.

Gordon and Rose Godspeed!

I've been off here for quite awhile due to my life/health have been sucking. Now I come on and find this; things really do suck. Gotta get my sh-t together before I can say much more but I will crank my production back up for the G.'s memory.

I just got this update from Vijay Pande @ foldingforum.org about progress in the procurement of the servers:

Quote:
We're waiting on receipt, but it should be soon (the PO went out 2 months ago and it usually takes Stanford about a month to do purchasing of major equipment due to the need for outside quotes and about a month for us to get it). We're really grateful for this and planned to make a major blog post about it once everything is set up.

I have been out of the folding scene and the forum for a long time.
I am so sad to learn that our beloved G Man has passed away.
I wanted to say something but my words felt inadequate .....

....... Thank you, Gordon, for being our friend !!
I will always remember you .....
