yeah, probably true since the 7970 gives the 580 a run for its money. I wouldn't be surprised nvidia had the 680's on holding pattern till amd threw their latest card out on the market. I mean they only released the 3gb 580 not to long ago as a stop gap for the 6970's. Although the rumored 2gb of memory seems quite small for a card that should be around $600.

Would be nice to fold on, but honestly, it would be at a point of where it'll just be a better idea to go with 2P opteron setup for dedicated folding and net 150-300k for the same price as two of these monster cards with big WU.

By no means do i think anyone would build a gpu anymore to try and rack up massive points, but for the guy (me me) that might upgrade to new gpus in the coming year its interesting to see what point age these babies can put out.

When we missed the bus on 100K ppd focusing while working on GPU's all these years, I don't think so any further. 25K ppd is worth the same beans now as it was a year ago.
