Air conditioner filter foam from the hardware store!

1. Here's Frankenbox IV in its natural habitat. (Feel free to ignore the DEC badge) Notice the open bay; instead of a FDD, I put my C: drive there to enable it to get cool air pulled over and around it. Also, the bottom of the front panel was cut away for better airflow.


2. Front cover removed, in all its ugliness. Note the massive 80mm PC Power & Cooling Silencer fan.


3. Et voilà. Air conditioner filter foam held in place by a total of 24" of solid RatShack 18 AWG hookup wire. Toolless removal, element cleaning and replacement!


4. Closeup of the empty bay cover. A piece of wire to hold the foam to the grille.

Gonna do this on my HAF912. Looks good!

wow... I threw that case away like 3 months ago... Been sitting in my attic since 97? Old pentium pro system.

I got the entire system for free... my public library tossed it. 600MHz P3, 10GB hard drive, MSI mobo. They didn't know how to take out the hard drive (hint: a Phillips screwdriver to undo the cage)... had everything but RAM. Got a 128MB stick from a friend for free. XP Pro fired right up. The old parts are stored in a box for emergency use

I can't tell you are being sarcastic (bad one if it is) or just completely oblivious, either way, its pretty stupid and moot at this point. Honestly, if you can't tell if that was a joke, then don't even comment in the first place dude...
