There used to be a tool list here of everything you needed to fix/troubleshoot and protect your pc. I can't find it anywhere. It's no longer in the FAQ list - where I thought I'd seen it previously. Some of the things covered were registry fixers, declutterers (C-cleaner) and firewalls (at the time, I think komodo was the one). There's a lot of seriously outdated stuff in the pinned sections. We're nearly three OS's past XP and 12 years past win2000 now yet still most of the posts are for these OS's. Someone call housekeeping.

I'm also finding a lot of broken and inaccurate links. 'maxpc' has dozens of links to a knowledge base that are supposed to target articles within the base, yet every single one of them takes you to their homepage. It's not a very well organized site, making things difficult, at best, to locate. I can't find any links for "hijack" which used to be a fairly popular tool. hmm...

Are you talking about HijackThis?

http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/

Still is a popular tool. Pretty easy to find using any search engine.

Oh, yah - I found a bunch of links for it and other tools. I was just wondering why they're not stickied any longer. Used to be a huge list of stuff and it all seems to be gone. In it's place are things that - well, aren't as useful. :p
