The article Face-To-Face was amazing. However, it opened up a bunch of questions that us geeks would like to know (OK, maybe just me). Just maybe you , Gordon Mah Ung, know and would be willing to tell us on the forum.
The front end servers were running Linux but which one (Red Hat, Solaris, Ubuntu, something else...)?
What database were they running in the back, (DB2, SQL, Oracle…)?
Just how big is the feed into this one data center in Pineville Oregon(OC3)?
Are these servers custom made for FaceBook or can anyone buy them?
What do they do with their antiquated servers? Would they be up for sale?
