Maximum PC

When I tried to log in to the forum today I was told "maximum number of login attempts reached please enter captcha" (I'm paraphrasing). I got that on my first attempt. I havent logged in from home in some time because of persistent cookies so unless I've been sleep-attempting to log in to MPC this tells me that either:

- some admin just changed the "attempts before requiring captcha" value on the forum to 0 to force captcha all the time

or

-some clown tried to guess my accounts password and log in as me. I do post from multiple computers with different IP addresses but I haven't logged in to my account in weeks.

Is there any chance of me getting to see the IP numbers of successful/unsuccessful logins of my account here like gmail? I'm not super worried about some joker "hacking" my mpc account but I am curious. I don't think I'm wrong in saying other people here probably would mind if their accounts were having brute force attempts made on them.

I had the same thing happen to me.

I can't see the IPs from which logins are attempted .. only IPs from which a successful post is made. Each post has the IP from which it was posted attached to it as meta-data. If a record of the IPs from which logins are attempted is retained, it would be attached to the member profile instead (I assume). I don't have access to member profiles.

Admins might, though. Ping Satch or Superchip and ask them to comment in this thread. I'm curious as well.

Same thing happened to me a few days ago bro. I think the forum was under attack, personally.

Sounds like it, yeah.

We had an issue over the past week... spammers who's IP's originated from China - we had to kill off an entire block of IP's. That might have had something to do with some not getting into the forums, but we don't think this type of incident and the spam attack are related.

Happens to me every time I try to log in. Fortunately, I love filling out Captchas.

Hey guys,

I think someone tried to log in as me. When I went to log in today I was told that I had exceeded the number of incorrect logins.

I have a fixed IP address and come in from the same place all the time, do you think you could check your logs and see if someone tried to use my account?

We only have IP stamps on your actual posts .. which means that we only have the one IP for you.
