Maximum PC

Has anyone ever suggested an area strictly for Polls? I was thinking of putting one up just to see the responses to my question, but don't really know where to put it (it's not really an emergency, but yet it doesn't seem to fit into any other category either). Or would this be better off in the "off topic" section.

I want a poll section, too.

It would probably go to the Studio, but it doesn't have a poll function.

I think it would be something quite useful, in fact. Especially for those who are trying to make a purchase decision and need some inspiration one way or another (ie. software, hardware, etc). That way, they can see what the "trend" is among similar users. (Yes I know there is room for people to go overboard and not be truthful, but most other boards that I've seen on the Internet offer this feature.)

Yeah, right now they have to listen to us argue about the exact theoretical speeds it would run at, and whether AMD is better than nVidia.
Also, there are some questions I have always wanted to ask, such as:

• Android, iOS, Blackberry, Symbian or "I don't know what the <insert choice invective here> you are talking about!!!"
• What is the slowest system you have used: Internet Cafe, Mom's/Dad's/Grandparent's, Anything running ME or Vista, or Other.

So, in a tech forum you're asking for AMD vs Intel or AMD vs nVidia polls? Think about the masses and not you yourself. Most polls will be lame. Wouldn't you rather have feedback from the ultra smart people, or just have a poll from Kardashian watching 8yo's? American Idol voting processes don't work, nor do Yoda vs Anakin questions.

Polls state that polls are useless 100%. To be open minded, you just ask the question and let people give their opinions. Polls still only give us the option to vote on your pre-selected choices. What if Camaro or Mustang isn't the only choice? Not in the poll, so there are to conclusions to be made and the discussion is worth while.

It's a forum. Use it to it's potential.

Then we cannot trust the polls on polls, which means we can trust the polls, one of which is a poll on polls, which can be trusted that we cannot trust polls, and we have a circle.

I'm sorry, but what? Cardassians are annoying, and they have good disintegrator weapons, but they were defeated. If you are talking about the people who make the clothes that don't use enough/high enough quality materials, why the heck would any of them be on this forum? We only seem to get serious people or people who had been PC enthusiasts sometime in the past. Even WishboneDawn is an enthusiast, and would be more so if she had more time.


Not necessarily. Several forums that use the same forum engine as this have it set up so that you can post replies as well as vote. It is merely a matter of implementation.


This is actually now merely academic in nature. In another thread, I learned why there are no polls in the Studio and no dedicated polls area.
I am still going to need to ask you to give me better arguments.
