I installed Windows 7 on a computer to take over to my brother in laws but with the gpu client running it is jerky and unresponsive. I have tried GPU3 and 2 and get the same. It is a Phenom II x6 with 4 gigs of ram if that helps. I have taken the suggestion to turn on aero and it helps a little but still the computer is unusable like this. I have a gtx 260 card in it.

I just found the new affinity II application that is is good for more than 2 cores and that didn't help either. The gpu is on core 5.

Perhaps the pc sensed that you were giving it away and went into lock down mode to prevent itself from being moved. Similar to when 4yr old kids do the anti-moving/rock move. lol

If you haven't already, go to task manager and adjust priority for your gpu client there, just to see which direction it takes you... If any.

I have it set to low in the configuration utility. I've changed it from low to normal to above normal to high. None of this makes a difference. It is starting to look like I have to go back to windows xp. I know most of you are using windows 7 and not having problems. It shows the most with Firefox and seems to be OK enough if it is not running. It does the same thing in internet explorer. I have tried changing their priority and that seems to make it worse.

Options, then advanced and then there should be a checkbox that says use hardware acceleration when available.

I've only been doing this for about 10 years and don't have an idea where to find this option button.

Top left I believe it says Firefox and is orange. Click that and it should drop down into a menu. Go to the tab that says options and it will make another menu. Hit options again and it will open up a window. Far right should be advanced and about halfway down is hardware acceleration. I dont have it infront of me right now but earlier I downloaded it on my laptop to find where it was and thats what I remember.

OK thanks. Now is there a way to turn it off in IE she will use it for some of her games. I have her trained to use firefox but there are still sites that only use active x. Assholes that they are.

Wow, that did it for firefox. I will start looking for it in IE.

I found it right away. I don't know how to thank you enough.

You came to us from EVGA? That is great.
