ok, i want to set up my pc to play video on my tv and stereo, it has tv out, i do not have keyboard and mouse connected-i would like to not have. i would like to remote control via remote desktop, but if im playing video remotely, it locks the screen on the tv, how can i start playing the video and then disconnect so its on the tv? this pc is gonna be hidden by the tv with nothing but network cable, power, and video and sound hooked up, any ideas?

Remote Desktop allows you to use a computer from a different PC. IE, if you have 2 PCs on a LAN, you can control Computer #1 from Computer #2 by using remote desktop.

You need to get something like an ATI All in Wonder card since it usually is packaged with a remote or software that allows it.

I've seen some other ones that do similar in the past, but the ATI seems to be the best.

use VNC... VNC alows you to control a remote PC similar to remote desktop without locking up the screen.. I use it to work on my HTPC while the kids continue to watch SpongeBob ;)

Link to Tight VNC
