I'm possibly going to be in the market for a TV in the next 6 months. Now, I know that's an ice age and a half in the tech world, but I'm not asking "What should I buy?" It's more of "help me understand."

I posted to Facebook (not gonna link here, sorry) and of course a friend-spat ensued over LCD/LED/plasma.

I've one friend claiming plasmas are less expensive and their higher energy requirements are overblown. I've another saying I should go for a 120Hz LCD after saying over 60Hz doesn't matter. So help a guy out, guides, links, etc. I've used Google, but half those guides are either old or from Joe's Hardware Site, not places I trust.

So I am moving in with my lady and we do not want to pay for cable. Also we do not want my PC to be the TV center either. So I was wondering is there a set top box or something that I can get both netflix and hulu plus on that does not have to run through my computer. We want to be able to use my computer and watch shows separately since we only have one computer. She has a HD TV as well.

Thanks for the help
Yes, it is the intelligible answer

Whats your price range anyways? To me, that's the biggest factor before deciding on anything.

I have a Plasma, and yea, it was cheaper. Admittedly, there's a lot of fear with these over what amounts to very old information on them...and I would agree that at one time there were some legitimate concerns with plasma, but not so much today.

My issuse with PDPs is the fact there are only three manufacturers.

Everything I've read shows that last years Panasonic plasma line is better than this years.

I guess I'm just picky in the fact that I want black blacks, good brightness, good contrast, accurate colors. Is that too much to ask?
