Especially with the v7 client? Let me know how it works, if it does.

OK tested with v7 client and SLI: its a go. I even forgot to disable it initially for the install, which is what I had planned to do.

took like 60 seconds from clicking "install" to actual folding a SMP and 2 GPU clients. pretty much a no brainer install. didnt set flags though. Ill go back to do that.

Q9550 @ 3.8
2 x GTX 285's

(docs grand prize in Elena's birthday giveaway).

so SLI doesnt seem to bother the v7 client either, unless its its not loading the cards up fully (no ppd reading). but the load shows 98-99% each card and temps are in line with what the v6 client did.

BTW 3DPlay doesnt bother either client. it was enabled in the nvidia control panel during the install (forgot about that too).

How do you get more than one thing going with the v7 client? I can't seem to figure that out.

v7 slots = old-style clients

If you think of it that way, it might make a little more sense for someone familiar with the older clients.

Click "Configure" to add a slot for a CPU or GPU, whichever you are trying to add.

I used to fold on a pair of SLI 8800 GT's (including the one you sent me 2 years ago). I recently stopped using SLI since I switched them with a 460 in the system. they are now in a k9a2 which doesn't support sli.

thanks for that. I feel kinda stupid now, once I found the right area it was so easy to add the GPU one.

Not stupid at all. Letting ego get in the way of asking for help when you want to contribute to a worthy cause would come closer to being stupid.

Thank you for the research. I believe SLI will be very important in the future so getting used to using it may prove beneficial....

That's a hint, if ever I've heard one. :)

For the AMD/ATI crowd, does this correlate to Crossfire set-ups?

*note to self: get up to speed on SLI*

I never had any trouble using the v7 client with one CPU and two GPU slots (with Crossfire enabled), but I gave up on GPU folding with my 4870s because it was dragging down the PPD of my SMP WUs. I'd happily use them to fold if the AMD GPU client didn't need so much CPU, or if it was advantageous from the perspective of PPD to do so.

In some recent but brief experiments I was unable to use SLI with v7 with GTX-460s. May try again on a different machine.

how about tri sli? any benefits there? other than the obvious 3x cards?
my motherboard supports it, and there is that nagging open 3rd slot!
well that and the fact that its 42C ambient rite now inside this room
as soon as we drop down under 40C for a week or 3 I will get back to folding
just can not run a space heater in the summer temps of south florida
