So, I looked at one of my computers that I do folding on recently and it was queued up with about 38 "Sends" and found out through the log that it says it can't connect to send the data. Despite this, it still continued to receive a new WU after finishing the last. How is it possible it could connect to get the WU but then not be able to send the data!?

The machine worked perfectly for weeks before this happened.

I tried restarting and it didn't help, so I reinstalled (including removing all previous data) and it's still doing it!

Here is the error log:
Code:
09:58:31:Connecting to 171.67.108.25:80
09:58:32:WARNING: WorkServer connection failed on port 8080 trying 80
09:58:32:Connecting to 171.67.108.25:80
09:58:32:ERROR: Exception: Failed to connect to 171.67.108.25:80: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

If someone has any ideas for anything to try or solutions, I would really welcome the assistance. My machine info is included below for your reference.

Thanks!

Sometimes the server(s) are down, too busy or otherwise not able to connect because of a break or problem between
you and them. Sometimes a restart of the client fixes it too. Restart the client, or manually try to send later on.

Not all WUs are assigned by the same server. Could be the one trying to receive was down for some reason. At the same time, the client is sending a signal that it is ready to do work, so it connects with Stanford and is routed to an active server.

When a server is down or something else is wrong with the connection, the client will try to re-send every 3 minutes.

You can check the status of the servers here. The server you are trying to connect to is 8th down on the list and shown in standby, not accepting. Could be maintenance being done. Regardless, when they correct the situation, your WU will happily upload.

Thanks Full_Toaer

Is there a way to manually change the server to send the results to? This has been consistently happening for over a week and I feel like there might be something else going on.

Yeah, this happened to me too. Re-started about half a dozen times and still wouldn't send. I felt like something else was wrong also. Bad thing is if it's bigadv work unit the longer you have to wait, the more your bonus points go down, and it's not your fault. I've had to reformat (for other reasons also), but will install folding again tomorrow and see if it still happens in a few days.

The server selection is made by Stanford's systems. I think I've read that each server is backed up by another one for accepting results, but it does you no good if both are down at the same time.

Your welcome.

Another issue is that you are not a simian, Stanford does not care much for non-simian's.
Simians have 'special' assignment and reporting servers and we get a gazillion points per wu even thought of let alone completed (whatever that means).

yeah, just finished a 2684 about 3 hours ago, and it still hasn't connected to a server to upload the results. At first it was assigned to 171.67.108.22 which shows it's accepting, but the upload failed twice. Then it was assigned to 171.67.108.25 which shows it's on standby so it won't accept it there. Tried multiple reboots to no avail, still cannot connect to server. I'm not familiar with how to send it manually, so I might as well just shut down.

-send x

Attempts to send the individual work unit in queue position x back to the project work servers then exit the client. Positions are 0-9 or "all" to "-send all". This switch is not commonly used as each time the client is started, it attempts to upload all completed work units to the project servers. This switch is generally useful for sending leftover results files prior to client removal, or when Sneakernetting. Supported in client versions v3.x v4.x v5.x or v6.x

Well, after about 9 or 10 hours it finally sent on its own. I guess I'm lacking in the virtue of patience, and a few bonus points as well.

Thanks for the help Swaynes.

The same thing happened to me yesterday Seux. After 11 attempts at sending the finished work unit, I shut down the service and then restarted it. As was said earlier, if there is a completed work unit in the queue the client will try to resend it as soon as it is restarted. Given, if the receiving servers are not accepting then it will continue to be in your queue. Thankfully mine went through at the first attempt after I restarted it.
