Just looking to see how much my laptop from 2009 would cost.....wondering if it's worth it to sell this laptop and use the money to get a desktop, even a meager one would be better than this.

17" HP dV7 with Vista Home Premium
C2D T6400 @ 2GHz
9600GT M
4GB RAM
x1 320GB Hitachi Travelstar 5200rpm
x1 500GB Seagate Momentus 7200rpm

The print on the W, A, S, D keys are rubbing off, with A completely gone and the W and D half way gone.

I would think it's worth at least $200, but I'm quite loss on how high mobile components resell at this age. I was googling around and it seems a used T6400 sells for sub-$100, and I can't imagine anything else in this worth any more.

Laptops typically go for a bit of a premium than a similarly specced desktop. I don't think the keys rubbing off will detract that much in terms of value since they're almost expected to wear off over time to a degree. For a laptop like that I think you'd be looking at a fair price in the neighborhood of around $300ish possibly a bit more. The main thing bringing it up in price is that nice large 17" display.

Slightly off topic but where in your google search did you see a T6400 based laptop sell for under $100 b/c that's WAY below market price for a laptop unless it's missing a lot of parts.

Naw, I was looking at a T6400 CPU in itself, as if I were to take it apart and sell it by itself.

Did I mention it has Blu-Ray also?

with the price point of blu ray finally coming down, I think you will still find this in the 300 dollar range with new laptops with win 7 an blu rays in the mid 500's rite now from acer and dell 300 is a good price
