Not sure if this is the right location for this, but I'm looking for a (preferably) free app that can take a video of what's happening on the computer screen. I don't need a mcro-type system, but a program that can capture the screen as I do things on-screen.

it doesn't need to support sound, just decent quality video that I can play back somehow.

Suggestions? I'm doing this for demos and stuff like that, but like I said, sound is not important.

I don’t have or use any program that will be useful, but after several tries, found a search-string that may be useful: on screen video capture.

You may have already been down this path, but there are several links that look like they may work for what you are looking for. :)

I've been meaning to get into this as well. I already downloaded some free ones but haven't had time to try them out.

CamStudio
Freez Screen Video Capture

If you get to looking at them, tell us what you think. I would be curious to know.

Microsoft's expression encoder is pretty nice except the free version can't export to as many things and the clips are limited to 10 minutes, it has excellent quality though.
