Maximum PC

Hi, I'm thinking about playing Blu-ray discs in my computer but it looks like I need a "special" software besides the Blu-ray drive.
Can anyone tell me what would be a good software to play the movies? I have Windows Media Player and iTunes but I don't think any of those can do it.
And what do I need besides the Blu-ray drive and the software for playback?

Also, I still don't have the blu-ray drive so if anyone know any good drive let me know.

And I'll be watching that in an 20" Gateway monitor (DVI input) 1600 x 900

You mentioned your video, but what about your audio?

Will you be listening on headphones are 2.1 speakers, or will it be 5(7).1?

If the former, most included software will be okay.

If you want something better I recommend Arcsoft Total MediaThatre these days over PowerDVD or WinDVD. At least when it comes to pay software.

The videocard you have is the chip that I have in my current HTPC, so I can testify it will decode the video just fine.

I have a set of Logitech 5.1 speakers but I'll probably be using my Sennheiser HD 280 pro headphones most of the time.
I think I'm going to have to buy the software since I'm planing in buying an OEM drive and they usually don't come with extra software.

And one last question... How will the image quality in my monitor be compared with an HD TV? Nowadays almost everything has an "HD" in front of their name trying to make me believe that the image is better than anything before that, and it made me question if the 1080p TVs will have a better image quality than my monitor.

Unfortunately that last question is a loaded one.

Monitor quality varies wildly between models, but the short answer is you should be perfectly okay.

I've watched videos on my laptop and desktop, and the biggest issue is color accuracy and contrast.

I would wait to order the full software until you get the drive in your hands. Some OEM drives do come with software.

If it didn't Arcsoft and Cyberlink have download options for their software.
