Maximum PC

I have never used DSL locally, but I have been using cable for broadband since 2000.

I'm getting ready to move and I will be able to get DSL. $25 a month gets me 6 Mbps down. For the same speed by the CableCo I would have to fork over $63 a month.

I would presume the biggest question is how far I am from the CO.

Right now basic cable and broadband costs around $88 a month, but I can get satellite at the new place for much less and more channels.

So any thoughts/experiences?

They wouldn't be able to offer what they could if you weren't within a specific distance of the CO. Most ISPs (including the local Telco) should have a DSL line qualification tool that you can check things with.

Unless you're getting some sort of iDSL service (and I doubt you are because of the speed offered), your distance from the CO has no effect on speed.
