Just got my 6870 Sapphire in and running with latest drivers. Old drivers from the other card where uninstalled before installing this one.

My problem is, every benchmark or a furmark stress test will make it get vertical lines on the screen and then crash windows. In furmark it crashes at different temps but the first time it crashed it was at 60*c and all the other times it wont go past 50*c. Windows will boot just fine but any video type programs will kill it. Is this a DOA card? I've never had one before so just checking before I RMA it back to newegg.

Also got a "drivers stopped working but restarted" and the screen will split in two having the right on the left and left one right hand side.

Ok here's my trouble shooting, all of which failed almost immediately when testing.

Removed and installed card and tested
Removed and installed drivers (v11.2) and tested
Tried different configs of PCI power connectors from the PSU and tested
Removed and installed drivers again (v11.1) and tested
Manually set fan to 100% to see if it was a temp issue and tested

Ran all tests with furmark, vantage, passmark, and bioshock (only game I have installed right now) This was a fresh install of vista 64 ultimate because I changed boards, cpu, and ram about 3 weeks ago. Everything was running great with my old x1950 Pro and still does. So I'm assuming it's not my fault and newegg is getting another RMA.

Just for grins and giggles try older drivers or the Windows Updates WHQL driver.

It sure sounds like a bad card to me.

I ended up sending it back to newegg. They did whatever testing it is they do and verified the same thing. So I now have a new card clocked to 1020core and 1170 memory and it doesn't go over 68*c :D Thank you newegg for a new card that OC's very well!
