I may have asked this before a long time ago, but need help with it again...

I've got a DLink DIR655 wireless N router, and a 4 port 10/100 switch. I need to find a way to connect the switch to the router. What i have is a single RJ45 jack in the wall in my living room, which is next to a bedroom I use for an office, which has the router and cable modem and computers in it.

Anyway, I have one end of the RJ45 "pass-through" (in the way so I can have wired Network access in the living room) plugged into a LAN port on the router. Problem is that I need to conenct two devices in the living room to this jack. Can I simply use the 10/100 switch (which essentially will be plugged into one of the router's LAN ports)?

Any suggestions on how to do this and what types of cables to use (crossover and/or patch)?

Basically, in the end the switch would have all 4 ports free, and the router would have 3 of its 4 ports free (the 4th lan port being used for the switch connection).

Yes, you can simple daisy chain switches (including the integrated switch of your router) at will. Thanks to the fact that most modern network devices support AUTO-MDIX, you don't need crossover cables anymore, just use standard network cables. The device will automatically configure the connection correctly.
