Where to begin?
The Audio riser on the older board is not PCIe of any sort, but an Audio Riser point blank. If you have a board with an audio riser, don't shove Video cards in it...even if you make it fit.
As with x58 power issues, I don't think that's wide spread in my wildest dreams. I think you're reading SPAM and asking spamtastic questions. Dude, wake up...that's 1999 and the Abit BE-6 has that riser and is not PCIe.
EVGA recalls are fixed by shit!
OK, I guess my error was in calling it a riser. It's actually an OEM sound board that came bundled with the mobo.
Second, it must be widespread, because I have two boards with the extra molex connector on them. While I don't disagree that EVGA did wrong with this "patch", it is a known issue. I am not having any current issues, and any new board *should* ship ready, ie with the molex on the board, or some other solution built in. I wanted the device to have, more as a troubleshooting tool. You never know when someone is going to ship an older version board that was sitting in the back of a warehouse.
I'm sorry I asked for help on an actual mod
. Obviously, something other than "ooh, shiney! look how pretty I made this box" wen't outside someone's comfort zone. I'll leave now, and let you all get back to ready made, bolt on case bling.
