Might as well add the Noctua NH-D14 to the list!

They just reviewed it in their April issue. Didn't like it that much. Good cooling, but too big and expensive. I'm inclined to agree because the H50 costs the same.

And the H50 is of course reviewed and Kickass.

It's water....hold it in the water court and not air cooling realm dude. Price? Then that comes to the forums. Better $90 water cooling is actually possible in 2010. eBay may be involved, but it's possible. An old rad, 4' of tubing, and a block. $80 and done.

Oh wait. $1 for the gallon of Walmart water. It's right by the batteries.

Could you do a roundup of various firewalls, possibly hardware and software. Also, a roundup of anti-spyware apps would be awesome.

Please review the Archos 5 Internet Tablet http://www.archos.com/products/imt/arch ... lang=en&p=

I'm seriously considering buying a pair of these, one for myself (160GB version) & one with the GPS feature enabled for a friend (500GB version for her)... I'm planning on pre-loading about 2hrs of 720p video clips (that I shot with my video camera) onto hers.

It "sounds" like it would be an awesome device, Android OS, 4.8" 800x480 screen, with Wi-Fi, GPS (built in but must purchase 1 time activiation if I read correctly), music, photo, video, & DVR capability, several storage capacity options from 8GB to 500GB, MicroSD support for up to 32GB MicroSDHC cards (on 8GB, 16GB, & 32GB models), and...
Quote:
Skilled developers and programmers can now choose to switch over to a true standard Linux environment as offered by the Ångström Linux distribution. Developers can put this on their ARCHOS 5 Internet Tablet devices and join other enthusiasts who are experimenting with various ideas and interfaces based on the Linux operating system.

About the only things it's missing is camera & phone, & those really don't matter to me, I've got 3 great camera's (D-SLR, compact, & 1080i Video) & I can buy a cheap phone & save on the internet bundle as long as I can find a Wi-Fi connection to use wherever I'm at.

Please review this! I never have owned an open air "case" or tray for a PC, and stumbled upon this. AT $200 USD, it is quite expensive, because expensive shipping from Italy to the US is crazy much!

GET YOUR HANDS ON AN Xi3 AND REVIEW IT.

PLEASE.

The concept is elegant. The Price is steep. I personally believe these devices are the directions we should be taking computers in the future. I had this idea long ago, but I'm 18 and at the time was too young to patent such an idea. :(

It's just a small form-factor computer, nothing really new about it. They do have awesome looking cases though.

It's modular. Want a second, third, or fourth CPU? No problem, slide it in!

I still don't see the difference between it, but maybe that's just me.

The video just shows them combining several of the units together, which sounds good, but from what it seems you would need to purchase another one of the units (which currently are very expensive). Sounds like a cluster to me.

The video mentions cost a lot, but eventually the units will get older so more and more units will be needed.

But I agree, if they can review a couple of these chained together, I would love to see the results.

The theory- That it's impossible to get a truly outdated machine... We just add more cores to it. Especially with the theory that as we add more cores to our CPUS, and the more thread-minded the code is, the more exponential the good results.

Not Really... buy 16 dual core units & you have 32 cores of processing power under one OS...

But they're using old technology & selling it at prices of new technology... Best CPU you can currently get in one of these is an Athlon 64 X2 3400e 1.8GHz dual core which is AM2 & was released in mid 2008, and is not user replaceable as far as I can tell. RAM is 2GB DDR2, soldered in, and only supports an additional 128MB of "side port memory". Internal storage is either 8GB or 16GB (can't tell for sure) and seems to be only expandable externally.?.?.? In one place they say 16GB SSD, but on the purchase page only 8GB flash is listed, no option for 16GB???

You need 4 of these chained together at $850 each just to get close to the performance I have on my $2000 gaming PC. The average computer iliterate consumer that they are aiming for is much better off with the way things are. In fact, they'd be much better off spending $850 on a new laptop.

Not even worth reviewing IMO...

*dusts off this thread*

Hello, I'm requesting a comparison review of a type of gaming hardware that has greatly declined in popularity in recent years. I'm talking about Joysticks. It'd be nice if MPC could dig up whatever are the newest models of whatever companies are still in business to provide it, and show us a little of which provide what, that sort of thing. The inspiration for this request was your article on the website for Mechwarrior Online, I feel the need to have a joystick ready for whenever that comes to market, and I really would love to see some tech journalists go to town on that subject.
