I was cleaning up and must have chucked my Windows 7 CD. It's already installed and all that goodness but I love having it for future cleansings.

I've looked through MS's web site and have not been able to find a link to DL Win 7. Can some one point me in the right direction please? I assume they must have one akin to their XP DL's no?

This isn't it is it? http://store.microsoft.com/help/iso-tool

Cheers!

There's a trial of the enterprise version, but I doubt that'll help you any...

Which version do you have and exactly where did you get it from?

Home premium 64bit. Computer was bought just pre-Windows 7 through Dell so I got the free upgrade.

Seems more logical to just to contact Dell for replacement media rather then downloading a different version from MS's site...

Bear in mind, that OEM releases are a little different in regards to licensing (although the end result is the same).

Of course they will... you paid for a license, not a CD.

You can also bring your COA to any MS reseller and they'll provide you with new media.

A COA is proof that you own the license, it lists the product key. It looks something like This.

You might have some difficulty getting media from a reseller though, most people want to sell, not just give.

Please read my post.

Bring your MS COA to an MS reseller and they will replace the media.

I am shocked by the horrible grammar in that response, though. They usually do a better job of writing their stock replies.

Dell charges for the service because the Dell CDs are custom installs tailored to their PCs and laptops.

That's what I found interesting too was that the original CD was not a "Dell" CD - it was a Windows 7 CD with no Dell markings on it at all.

I wouldn't really want a Dell D as it's all loaded with crapware anyways. I was really hoping for one of the same that I got, but oh well. Pay the price for my carelessness.

Nice job genius! If you have an OEM machine you can call them up and they can send you another disk. If it is retail you have two choices. Buy another copy or create a system image of your computer so if the HDD dies or gets corrupted you can restore the OS back.
