well, im poor, and looking for a good laptop for around 1k. any suggestions? also, who has the cheapestlaptop memory? DEll charges way too much for thier memory upgrades.

i know, how ironic... a poorboy buying a laptop over a desktop but trust me, unless i get a Hornet with a LCD monitor that fits in a backpack (along with everything else...) i cant do what i need.

current possibilities:
Dell inspirion 5160 ($1099)
Cyber power XPLORER U3-1000 NOTEBOOK (with 512 ram)($1055)
Gateway Solo 450 (dont like the processor... im currently on a 1.3 and want to shoot it)

help me waste my money on the best one i can get please.

so far i'm goign towards the dell 5160. does anyone know some dirt about the 5160 (you know, not enough usb ports, mobo probs...)? if so, soil me too please!

For that budget, would you conisder a factory refurbished/reconditioned laptop?

There's plently of them over here with prices ranging from $420 to $1670

They're pretty good people over there, I've been buying crap from them since 1998. I've also had no problem RMAing broken stuff back to them as well.

Apparently one of the moderators got tired of people spelling it incorrectly and thought it might be funny to add that string whenever people use that word.

I try to avoid using it for just that reason. There are also a few other words that will bring up the string PARHELIA IS THE GREATEST VIDEO CARD EVER!

(In the above case I simply used the word f a g)
