Can you install both Visual Studio 6.0 Professional and VS.Net 2008 on the same machine without them getting in the way of eachother?? (Meaning that I can still build VS6 EXE files and package them without getting problems since there is a newer version of VS on the machine, and vice-versa)? I still use both (more .NET than anything else, but still need to work in VS6 and compile apps from time to time.

My machine runs Windows XP with all of the latest updates.

Yes. I haven't run VS 6.0 in several years, but I currently have VS 2005, 2008, and 2010 installed on my XP machine.

Thanks. I'm more concerned with how VS6 acts with VS.NET and VS 2005 on the same machine. I'm not so worried about all of the .NET-based versions of VB as for they all can use the same runtime files (the CLR) but more for VB6 and VS6 since they don't use the CLR and the .Net framework and rely on their own set of DLL and runtime files.

They'll be fine on the same machine. I've had VS6 side-by-side with VS2003 and VS2005 on WinXP.

So basically each development suite knows what dependencies to include with programs when compiled, and won't try to use older/newer versions tha what its supposed to (since there would be other versions of VS.NET on the same machine)?

My biggest concern here is that if I compile an app in VB6 for example, it won't crash or corrupt the target machine because it used a wrong DLL or other dependency file from one of the other VS.NET versions. (I know that OCX files are shared among suite versions.)
