On the front page right now, 4 out of 10 articles are about cell phones.

I did not subscribe to the magazine to read about cell phones. I don't come to this web site to read about cell phones. I just want to learn more about computers. That's PCs, not anything that has a microchip in it.

These articles are fine to a point, but you guys have ventured past the point of interesting side reading and jumped headlong into a new marketplace I don't find all that interesting.

Please cut back on the phones and carriers, and stick more to PCs.

Have you not heard? The Smartphone is the new laptop!

There is an entire new genre of developers creating app’s. Let’s face it, we’ve gone from laptops to notebooks to net books to cell phones… it’s the next logical, evolutionary step in portable computing!

Laptops are an extension of PC’s, therefore, so are cell phones!

Stop it. You're making yourself sound old.

Phones are the new it, bros. Hell even Dell is making them now.

Just wait. They'll make a smart phone version of these for you some day man.

When a cell phone can run PhotoShop and Crysis, then cover it.

oh, as an aside, i learned to type on a manual typwriter, they make them now that will plug into a usb interface, but using a keyboard for close to 30 years cures me of manuals. but i still hit the keys to hard.

Cool. I have a white one in my living room. 40 years old and works just fine... unlike any newer pushbutton phone with chips in them. They all died within ten years.
I don't own a cellphone and don't need to. As far as I'm concerned, cellphone coverage in MPC is wasted paper, ink, writing talent, and space that could be directed toward real computers.

PhotoShop may be a few years away from development, but Crysis on a Smartphone is a reality. (Link)

Their only challenge is to make it monetarily feasible. In its infancy, this debate sounds similar to the one done during the mid/late ‘70s between a large computer manufacturer and a small, upstart software company.

I’ll bet that somewhere in the next decade we’ll see where the dust settles… laptops or cell phones as the preeminent, portable computer.

So, yeah, discussing cell phones is relevant.

Not all of us are gaming nerds bro. They cater to a much broader audience than your WOW bros, bro.

You're dating yourself again bro. There is a growing generation gap where the elderly are insulted by texts, yet the younger generations are insulted by phone calls.

You want my attention, text me. You want my voicemail, give me a call.

Wait, they still make landlines?

I tore all of those out of my house when I bought it.

I have to agree with brb011 here.

I have an iPhone and I use it more than my laptop when it comes to mobile computing.

I wouldn't expect phone/general tech stuff to be cut anytime soon. If you look at the header of the page, you will see a tag named Maximum Tech (Remember the new quarterly magazine they are producing?). Most of these stories are going to be tagged with the Maximum Tech tag/entity and since the homepage is just a collection of stories with tags/entities, the regular tech stories will appear on the front page. In fact, there is a good chance the amount of "unrelated stories" will increase rather than decrease. Or at least until there is a maximumtech.com.

I bet you all flipped your lids when your subscription to Typewriters Inc. started talking about things with monitors and mouse functionality.

That's fine. There are other PC magazines I can subscribe to. You can review shoes, coffee makers, toasters, and whatever. And continue laughing at the all the people who used to subscribe to your magazine--from the unemployment line, hopefully.
