Well, today I received my RMA form BFG, with a note on the bottom that read.

"BFG Technologies, inc is winding down and liquidating its business. Unfortunately our major supplier would not support our business. As a result, we are returning your graphics card with out being able to repair it. We apologize for the inconvenience."

With this, I'm now the proud owner of a dead BFG280H2OC, my $500 copper paper weight. I called support, they found this news out a few days ago them selves. And I, along with I'm sure several others out there are now in the same position I am.

A company that no longer exists, and look to other enthusiasts as to what you think would be out there as far as up to par video that can replace this. It's sad, for me at least, to a see a company like BFG go down but it's the times we live in.

BFG is not out of business, they said that GPU's were not profitable for them so they are getting out of the market. they still sell PC's and PSU's

strange about your situation though. they said they would still honor royalties
BFG wrote:
"After eight years of providing innovative, high-quality graphics cards to the market, we regret to say that this category is no longer profitable for us, although we will continue to evaluate it going forward", said John Slevin, chairman of BFG Technologies. "We will continue to provide our award-winning power supplies and gaming systems, and are working on a few new products as well. I'd like to stress that we will continue to provide RMA support for our current graphics card warranty holders, as well as for all of our other products such as power supplies, PCs and notebooks."

but if there supplier has backed out there isn't much they can do I suppose

Can I get a source for this?

More important a /date/.

As this is development within the last week it seems. The service tech I talked to about my RMA today was worried if he's going to have a job to come into Monday.

doing a bake on the card worked like a charm. The issues with it are infact fixed for the time being, but that still leaves to stand what's the next company to step up to now that BFG is out of the works? EVGA? XFX?

Step up to XFX. They'll honor the warranties on their cards, even if you aren't the original purchaser. THAT is a company that will stand behind their products.

I wonder now what the collect-ability of the swag I have from them is. I've got some sweet stuff, but I just wonder now.

Same here. First video card I bought was a BFG GeForce 5500 AGP back in the day.

If I could trade you my 5600 for that beast, I'd likely do it in a heartbeat.
