 Post subject: replacing modem - do I need to reset router

As the title says, I am replacing my modem and am wondering if I will then need to reset the router.

If by reset you mean power off then back on, after the new modem is up, sure go for it.

Re-boot the router YES! reset no. The old modem has sent ip address info to the router so when you put in a new router it might pull a different ip address than the old one, therefore you need to reboot the router to get the new info.
