Maximum PC

Here' s what I need an estimated apprasial on:

* Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor
* Gigabyte GA-EP43-UD3L v1.0 Motherboard (full ATX)
* 2 GB of RAM (2x1GB DDR2-1066 sticks with heatspreaders, Crucial Ballistix)
* ATI Radeon 4650 PCI Express with 512MB DDR2 RAM (dual DVI ports)

How much do you think the combo is worth? How about pieced-out?

Also, how much would a Western Digital 750GB Green Drive 5400-7200 RPM with a 32MB cache be worth? All items are used, but in excellent condition (never overclocked)?

I think the price for the combo listed is based on the CPU's new price. W/o the hard drive, it's hard to sell as a working PC "combo". If you part it out, it may lose over a working PC.

With 1TB drives going for $75, you might as well wipe it and toss it in.

$350 with the drive?

I'd say that's still a little low-balled, as one could nab a cool $200+ for that Q9550 still. The motherboard and Radeon card could get $50+ each, so that really makes it hard to squeeze the rest into a $50 mark. I'd say more like $400 to $425.

$400 tops, if you catch the right buyer. Maybe better in a part out.

well I have a friend that offered to buy the video card and mobo for $100 for both, so I'm taking it. I'm keeping the RAM and proc for now (in storage). Maybe I'll throw it on ebay for around $180-200 BIN.

$200 plus for the Q9550? No way, I got a brand-new one for $180 at Micro Center a few weeks ago. I would peg the Q9550's value at no more than $120. And the 4650 also sells for around $50 new, I'd say its worth around $35. The motherboard could be worth $50 though.

I got mine for that at MC as well, but you can't always catch those sales, and if you look online, newegg has it for $279 retail, tigerdirect has it for $230 + shipping OEM, and even buy.com has it for $291 + shipping. Try doing a google search on it. Just cuz we got great deals when we did, does not mean that they don't still carry a higher value regardless.

I sure will take his offer. And about the CPU, I was thinking maybe $225 to start (I would sell it without a heatsink, so a bare CPU) and work from there. I'd probably want at least 200 for the CPU, simply because it's a great CPU, everyone else has it for $240+ new, and it's never been abused or overclocked.

I was thinking about putting it on ebay (not many people are interested in computer parts from what I see on craigslist--unless it's a whole tower unit or computer system). At least, I haven't had much luck trying to sell computer parts on craigslist.

It would be graet if I could get my money back on the proc, and it seems that it may be possible since I think I only paid $180 for it (got it when it was on sale for $180 a year ago).

The thing is with those prices you see on Newegg ($280), and buy it now on ebay (ranging from $250 to $350), is that though that's the asking price for the chip, people are not actually buying them at those prices. The last Neweeg review was from 2008. And yours is not new. Ebay has a used one sitting at $177, with 21 hrs left. The last bump on the price happened on July 31st, so there isn't a huge war going for it. I say it might go for 185 to 190 when it's done.

If you get what you paid back out of a computer part, consider yourself in an incredible minority. Don't get me wrong, I hope you get what you want, but don't be surprised if you don't.
