I have been a subscriber to MaximumPC back to when it was Boot Magazine. So I have collected many issues thru the years. I tend to be a pack rat and had every copy stored in my basement. However, I live in the MidWest and we were hit last week with severe storms and my basement flooded.

I thus had to throw out all my old MaximumPC magazines, which was not fun since I sometimes refered back to these often or would browse through then once in awhile for nostalgia.

I noticed that MaximumPC now puts the issues online as PDFs. But I only see as far back as 2006. I would imagine that a PDF was probably created for each issue as delivery to the printer or a set if TIF files from which PDFs could be created from a batch script using a PDF toolkit.

I was thinking it would be great if I could download other back issues. Or better yet, MaximumPC could provide all issues on a set of DVDs for a set price. I have seen other magazines offer this. It could be additional revenue for the company and many of us could clear our basements of clutter.

Maybe someone from the staff could create a poll either online for in the magazine to see if people are willing to pay a reasonable price for a set of DVDs with all back issues up to 2006.

Be patient. The PDF archive was only launched within the past couple of months.

It takes time to make good quality PDF's of the back issues, especially when since the old issues are found primarily on backups, and could have been created with older versions of software (adding another level of complexity).

In essence, patience is is what you need.

Just to let you know that we ARE patient, but PLEASE don't let this slide by! Many of us subscribers have lost issues to water damage, missplaced a copy, or have children / pets.

Thanks for all the GREAT improvements on the website!

FYI they aren't obligated to give you any PDFs.

We've been focusing on getting more current content on the website, esbaylus. Don't worry, the PDFs are still a priority. I promise.

Dave said he was going to design one for him, but he never got around to it. If either of you guys want to make one, I'd post it for him!

Since Butters is an intern, may I suggest "MaxPC staff bitch" or something else totally demeaning...

After all, isn't that what interns are for, to do the jobs the regular staff wont touch and take abuse?

Do you have to shake the crumbs out of a toaster to eat?

Jut curious, is it still the intention to continue scanning back issues to PDF? I see you are now up to 2003 issues - Great Work. Are your plans to go back as far as you can or do you have a set year in mind on when you will stop or just can't reasonably go back any farther?

Is it maybe possible we would ever see an issue or 2 or the old boot magazine ones from 90s for Nostalgia?

Since they recently cancelled their digital subscription service (and thanks for the notice guys ... :? ... nice to be left hanging and having to apply to Coverleaf for my refund), I wouldn't hold your breath for continued digital versions.

I could be wrong .. maybe they'll continue to give away something for which they once required payment.
