I had a Hitachi deskstar 160GB IDE drive die on my after about a year of use. Emailed Hitachi support and had an RMA confirmation number an hour later along with instructions on how to correctly package the faulty drive. They received it after five days and shipped a new drive out the very next day. Received it today, four days later, and it is a brand new drive sealed in the package, newer revision even. Very pleasantly surprised to have gotten such prompt and good support from a company whose reputation for customer support isn't exactly massive. Thumbs up!
