The ads with sound annoy me almost as much as the roll over ads. And then I click through to the company with the ad with sound to tell them their ad suck and so do they only to find out I need to join to tell them they suck. That sucks.

You did it wrong, email the webmaster of the website that has the offending ad embedded into it and tell him what you think of his familial history.

Web ads. You're doing it wrong.

Unfortunately, the ads were on this site. I had not installed an ad blocker so that I can see the ads. Some actually draw my interest. However, rollover ads, and now ads with sound, annoyed me enough that I installed Adblock Plus.

Good way to piss off a website's admin staff is to tell them you've installed an ad blocker. Those ads pay for the site to run so you can use it for free, y'know.

Be a little more discreet, huh?

I appreciate what you are saying but the way I see it, the reality is that if they are going to use annoying, invasive advertising people are going to use ad blocking software. I would think they would want this kind of honest feedback so that they can tweek their advertising accordingly. I would rather not use an ad blocker so that I can see the ads I am interested in. So, if they don't change their ways (and announce they are doing so), they only have themselves to blame.

From what I have heard, the ads are run through google, so the editors do not control the content.

The ads are supposed to be screened to fit the webmaster's specs, but sometimes, a few get through. I don't think that MPC is allowing ads with sound, as they are not very common.

I agree, the ads with sound enabled need to stop. I regularly visit this site at work. Ad blocking programs are not an option for me, and neither is turning my sound off. If maxpc doesn't get rid of these obnoxious ads I'm going to have to find another site to get my tech news from. I know I'm not the only person that feels this way. MPC, do your self a favor and get on top of this fast!

The ads are not controlled by MaxPC or Future. They can do little if anything about it AFAIK.

Will can have specific ad's removed. We've talked about it before. Ad's that block logging into the site, and a few others, he has had removed.

I hate those annoying ads with sound too! Some marketers think that if they like some song and it looks natural for them to play on their site, it's a good idea to place it. And they totally forget that every person has own perseption of everything... :(

Scrotum, Scrotum,
It's my wrinkly, crinkly bag of skin.
Scrotum, Scrotum,
It's the thing I keep my testes in.
Well it's wrinkly and it's crinkly and it's covered with hair
and I don't know what I'd do if it was not there.
Oh, scrotum, scrotum,
It's my wrinkly, crinkly bag of skin.

Just noting the fact that he is no longer editor-in-chief. But I shall when the time comes hail the return of the king.
