Thanks for the heads up. I thought there might be something more to that gauze than met my eye. I'm going to try better thermal compounds 1st., but unless it works a miracle, I'm still going ahead with my water-cooling mod.
It looks like I can fit 2 thermaltake aquabrazing vga coolers inside the stock heatsink by removing some of the air ducts inside. That way I'll still be able to use the stock HSF for ram cooling with the water blocks hidden - neat. I'm not sure how badly the blocks will impede airflow though. And then there's the added weight...These dual GPU cards are a lot more complicated to work with. Any more suggestions would be appreciated.
