You lost me here.

Why are you trying to put the homepage in the forum directory? Should your main homepage be under C:\users\username\Desktop\webpage instead of forum?

Do you have a "forum" directory on your desktop?

If so, that doesn't really make sense since you are going back to the main page. Are you hand coding this web page or using something like Frontpage (or whatever they renamed it to)?

From the looks of your first line, it appears you have several different pages in a webpage directory.

What makes sense to me is:
Code:
<a href="C:\Users\my name\Desktop\webpage\webpage.html">home</a>

What files/folders do you have under that webpage directory?

It works because your webpage.html page is in the webpage directory, not in a directory called forum.

When you press the button (or go to a webpage), it looks through all the folders. For your example, it looks through your C drive, then user account folder, then Desktop and then for a folder named forum, which probably doesn't exist. Since it doesn't exist, the .html page cannot be found and won't work. A directory and file is a total different thing remember (directory = folder).

Make sense?
