We've had Direct TV in our house since 2004, and haven't had a problem (except for a bad HD DVR when we got it, but we got a free upgrade, not complaining.)

I have a HD DVR in my room (I have our old 43" HDTV), when they wired my room up, they sent two lines outside. All Three HUNDRED FEET OF IT. After I set up HDTV in my room, I find that I can't record ANY HD Program, it will be in my list of recorded crap, but the second I go to play it, it says "Do you want to delete this program?". I spent TWO months troubleshooting daily with them before they finally handed over a new DVR (and it was a step down.) This one is now doing it, either I loose my signal totally and can't watch anything, or I can't record anything.

Highly annoying. The only thing they said I could do was re-run the cables. I might have 600 feet of Cat5 laying around, but no coax! Maybe this time I call they'll send someone out to fix it!

eh...spider is right...this belongs in the Dog Pound. There's plenty of other pissing an moaning about companies like UPS in there too...

bwcluff: My only thought is having them change both your dish and wiring. Having two wires going to the same receiver leads me to believe you have an older dish that may not play well with that HD DVR.

its fine on the other higher up HD DVR (My HDTV is only 720p, the other HDTV is 1080P). and we have the biggest dish they offer.

That's not the point to that statement. I don't know what you want people to tell you as you seemingly have a mix of technologies, cabling being the last of your concerns.
