So what would be the best card to get for an upgrade on an x300? Is there something in the $60 range worth jumping to?

Oh man... I remember the X300... I used is as a filler card on a Q9300 machine until I upgraded to a 9800GT... the difference was staggering, naturally. What games do you want to play on your computer? What are the rest of your computer's specs? What's the resolution of your monitor?

The machine has 3gb ram, Intel 2.6ghz chip (it's my buddies rig so sorry I can't give a lot more on the specs). It's a Dell XPS. Mainly he plays Company of Heros but doesn't get to see much on the graphics.

He's not sure, and I haven't been able to crack the case open to conf. But from looking at ATI's web site they are leading me to think that the x300 was only PCIe.

He wants to be able to run dual monitors off the card like he is currently doing.

Well, one of the PCIe links I gave above is for a 4670 which is the best card for 60 bucks or less for PCIe.

he said 60 or less man, thats 70+. And I've removed my link. When I posted it last night, it was for 50 bucks, its gone back up offf special to 70.

And besides, anything in the PCIe list I gave will be night and day different than the x300 the guy had been using.

ok fine. if you can stretch $5 more, than this will be the best bang for buck

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814161252

free shipping too.

i know anything you listed will be a night and day difference from the x300, but im trying to get him the best performance for the money as CoH can be pretty demanding on some of those listed video cards

Is there a good list out there that shows the different ati generations and where they are at?

THank you everybody for the help the cards listed are very good. So $70 4670 seems to be the front runner. Anybody got a different idea? Also where do you think the performance for CoH would be with this card?

unless it's a huger res panel, it should be able to come close to maxing it out... but his CPU will bottleneck it if it's a 2.6Ghz Pentium 4.
