I think the g-man from half-life 2 is an alien. He just doesnt seem human, and he seems to know too much.

I took my half life copy out back with my shotgun after 15 minutes of playing that dog shit so I have no idea about his back story or previous involvement but he was inconsequential to HL2.

He just didn't DO anything but make me wonder if Gordon Freeman was insane.

Edit: Oh and I approve of Gmen wholeheartedly. Gmen kick ass.

my guess is he must be some kind of time traveler

how much time was inbetween the end of hl1 and the start of hl2, weeks? a year? im asking because i dont know. how long do you think the gman keeps gordon on that train? also, the gman was able to stop time at the end of hl2 and they also accidentally develop a slow teleport inside the plot. That tells me that possibly the next game will involve more time type stuff.

I think about 10 years passed in between the two games.

i personally think that valve had to cut HL2 short because of the pressure of a release... im thinking they cut it in half or were not totally finished with the ending, so they decided to cut it and come out with the ending later on in HL3/expansion ?

I think the G-man is human and employed by an Alien race to watch over the earth. Since we know of combines and vortiguants, it's obvious there are multiple kinds of aliens, hence multiple alien races. He is Gordon Freeman's agent and employs Gordon as necessary when savage Aliens threaten earth. He travels through time via teleportation, so that is how he appears in the different places, and appears/disappears with ease.

Half Life 3 will have you traveling back in time to prevent this whole mess from ever starting...

the combine originally took over Zen. we (gordon) freed the Zen race form the combine, thats why the vorts are helping us now. there was a website that explained all that, don't remember the URL though...

Heres my opinion...

The G-Man is one of "them". The infamous "they". I believe he works for the government as someone who can "balance the cold equations". He isn't necessarily bad. But he is the one who makes the decisions that no one has the moral authority make. Sort of like in Swordfish when John Travolta asks Hugh Jackman "if you could cure all diseases in the world but to do it you'd have to kill one child, would you do it?" The G-Man is the person who wouldn't be afraid or even hesitant to say "Yes, I would!". Make any sense? Basically, I feel he is there to save us from ourselves. Another good comparison would be the "Cancer-Man" character from the X-Files. Anyone else share my view?

I read that site as well... that's his interpretation of the game, we don't know if that's what the story line is supposed to be. Like in the game, Gordon freeing the vorts is NEVER mentioned.

If you talk to the Vorts/ use them, they talk a lot about how he saved them. besides, Gordon killed the Xen overseer, therefor freeing the Vortigaunt slaves. Everyone I've talked to on the Steam forums agrees on this...
