With all the talk of MTX and pci L-connectors i got to thinking....

Anyone take a older, bulky laptop and put modern desktop components in it? I know someone filled a suitcase with components but even a laptop for the 90's is a fair bit smaller then a suitcase

But then again there was the X-Box mod....

my oldest laptop is a 386SX20 with 800x600 greyscale LCD, floppy, 80 meg HD, 4 meg RAM, 28.8k modem. still too small for a decent system build with desktop parts really. cooling and video will be the show stoppers.. and powering it? external PSU? lotsa cables to run..

even older notebooks are still more or less the same size as modern, just the new stuff is vastly more powerful.

I get what your saying but then i remember this

and it just seems like a old laptop could be just as "easy"
