Oh, what's that URL again.... :)
http://www.mozilla.org/

5.5 million copies of Moz and Firefox were DL'ed in the past month! Nice. I wonder if Firefox is more popular than Britney.

most of them are probably same users downloading for use in different locations, and also multiple downloads for updated versions.

5.5 million just doesn't seem that much.

I'll give you the same user in different locations.... the average user probably uses it in two or three locations, right? So there are probably between 2 million and 3 million users dl'ing it per month. And you have the occassional lab that uses it instead of, or in addition to, other browsers like IE and Netscape. I think the sysadmin for ECS and CSUF will probably make Firefox the default browser on all of the lab computers here (but that will only take 1 dl).

I don't recall them releasing multiple versions inside of a single month though.

the go from 0.9 to 0.9.1 to 0.9.2 is like less than 2 weeks.

According to the ftp site, 0.9.0 came out on 6/15 and 0.9.2 on 7/9 which is almost a month. Version 0.8.0 was released back in Feb and most people won't install every minor release. You only need to click an extension to go from 9.1 to 9.2 btw.

Putting the 5.5 million dl's into perspective, if Moz were hosted on sourceforge, it would easily be one of the top 5 most downloaded apps.
