Mine is dlink. I know if I changed it some thing clever, I'd completely forget what it was when I need it for something.

IlogKeystrokes......I named it this at my folks house. Far as they can tell, they haven't had anyone try and steal bandwidth, yet.

I've been using hacknet for quite some time. It is using WPA2 with a max connection limit and MAC address filter that only lets my computers connect.

Mine doesn't really matter... but someone relatively close in my apt building is using "FancyPanties"... I'd be curious to know who it is

Not much of a NOC... it's not easy trying to get a NOC set up correctly and wired correctly... but that's another subject for another day.

Finally added an 802.11g access point I snagged off fleaBay for $20

I have a real router and a dummy/xtra one I use for experimenting.

Real router is dlink50

Dummy is CSISAPCAL (which amazingly enough gets hacked on average 20 times a day)

In case anyone is wonder what the dummy router stands for
Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) AP = access point Cal = calgary.

Starting to think I live in a neighbourhood of terrorists.

You all may think I am a dumb-ass but currently the ssid at my house is linksys and there is no wireless security in place.
Now let me explain. The only possible neighbor that could get on the network does not have a computer to get online with, and if they did they are rarely home, and I would not mind sharing the connection with them. The next closest neighbor is a CHP officer and I really doubt that they are close enough to get the wireless signal. Yes I live in the sticks. We have about 2 acres so nobody is close enough to really be a threat.

Doesn't anyone just disable the SSID broadcast entirely anymore?

My SSID = THEWAILERS

Even if you turn off broadcasting SSID's, there are programs out there that magically come up with the name anyway if you have anything using your wireless.

Mine is currently: FortRuckerSecuritySevices

But if they have a house full of computers working 20 years, they might get close to figuring out my key with WPA2 Personal AES256.

What sucks for them is I change my key every two weeks, sometimes every week if I get bored. That reminds me, time to change my key again.

See ya in about 200 years. Buy then, they'll have a Palm Pilot that can hack my router in five seconds. But by then, I'll be dead and won't give a flying frack.

indeed. Besides, Wireless-N is only compatible with WPA, so if you want the speed... you've got the security.

WOW!! Didn't know you could do that. So how does that work?

I know people still broadcast them and that there are apps that will pull them for you. I just don't. It's like locking a car door. A thief will be able to get in if he really wants to but I'm still gonna lock the door.
