I had an asus board that died on me after 6 months of use, and I called in to RMA it. Of course I had to wade through all the techs asking me to make sure it's plugged in, but after that the RMA was quick and painless.

Board number 3 was the winner.

Finally got it to post after 2 other motherboards failed!?????????
They sent me a plain brown box of a old p5n turned inside out, with this board in antistatic and nothing else, but it works.!

I am typing on the system now. All running smooth now for almost 24 hours of a steady burn in. Left it up all night folding on the gpu, and its still alive.

Stock cooler is pulling 46/46/47/47 C temps with ICD7 paste in there but thats not under a load just basically idle since the gpu doing all the lifting

The moral of the story is don't waste your time talking to customer support, or listening to their suggestions. Ask for help from people you can trust.

Does ASUS have an automated RMA method or are you forced to talk to CS?

at this point
I am considering putting a application in for the job of tech support on the phone with these guys.
I know their scribt verbatim by now. And, I am pretty sure I have a better idea now than they do just what is involved in making their own product work!

well that and the fact I am not currently incarcerated or living in mainland Asia.
Seems like more an more of the "call" centers are either subcontracted to prisons or Asia.

So, when "steve" has a hadji accent you got a Indian. When Allan sounds like he smokes 3 packs a day and has a distinct trailer park accent you got the prison call center where the warden is rehabilitating them!

Not that I am against these guys learning a valuable trade, just it would help if they actually fixed stuff instead of reading the script.
What happened to customer service?
