9600 GSO, max PPD is about 4k usually closer to 3k. Since I started my CPU folding it went down a but, it is now averaging 3200 according to FAHmon, getting more and more daring with the overclocking though.

I may have to do the same soon, if your doing 3200 on that plus getting approx 1920 a day on cpu, its gonna get real close. I already got my CPUs OCd (I can go further on my 6600 though) but havnt touched the 4850, its runnin 76C, and that seems hot to me. The fans only runnin like 56% though, and I cant seem to override it.

true, but you run ati not nvidia. it only applies to nvidia cards, myself i havent had an ati since the x1950xtx that i started gpu folding on.

Is there any way to OC shaders with ATI? If not will OCing the core and mem do anything to folding, even a little?

Does anyone know what the best (free) OC program is for ATI. I know you can use catalyst, and I have used ATITool and one other in the past. Just looking for a couple opinions.

Besides worrying about quickones SMP and OC'd GPU, I got a buddy whos been folding (on another team...grrr) for quite a while, I'm trying to catch him.

Tedster, how much gain can I expect from OCing my ATI card?

mines already runnin 650...

so I tried to OC my CPU more (to 3.1) and it kept stalling. Then when I went back to 2.92, it stalled again. I did try boosting the voltage a lil, but just one notch, that scares me.

Either way, Ive been above that before, and I didnt understand why it was messing up back at 2.92, cuz I've had that 24/7 for a few days now.

I downloaded and installed speedfan and atitool before I OCd the CPU more, ATItool wouldnt tell me my frequencies and the PC messed up when I started it.

I uninstalled them both, and clocked down a bit to 2.7, just cuz i need to go to bed, and I dont wanna lose the night of folding.

Tomorrow I will try some more, hopefully with better luck, and without too much downtime.

Anyone know why I can't get a Q6600 to 3.1 with a zalman9500?(i think thats the #)

it stalled... AGAIN. I went the whole night without SMP going, so thats prolly 800 points lost. It seems to be running ok now, but everything is stock speed... grr...

The only ATI card I have in my possession is an All In Wonder X800 xl It has been replaced with a 8800 GT (Which is now one of the two that I have sitting around)

If you really want to get rid of a card, say an 8800 GTX, I would accept it as a donation :P

Found the limit on my 9600GSO shader clock, it finally tripped at 1818 up from 1375. Lost my current WU when it did too  Underclocked the core and memory to keep the heat down (thanks g.m.waters!) It is set at 480/1812/1240 from 550/1375/1400, stable at 67 degrees bouncing between 3100 and 3600 PPD according to FAHmon

The Q9300 with SMP is consistent at about 1480PPD and the Pentium M laptop is at 300PPD. Without getting a new 775 mobo that lets me overclock this is all I got unless I get another rig somewhere.

R3D88, if you keep having those 6000+ PPD I'm screwed but if you settle down around 4800 it should be an interesting race. Now I just have to make up that 6000pt difference you put on while I was getting everything set!

Try again to set up the VM, or try linux. You can use nvidia cards in linux.

like a duel boot? The more I get into the tweaking the more I see how gimped my mobo is coming from an OEM. I cannot OC or even control fan speed, Asus SmartDoctor lets me change fan ranges but fan % is locked out.

For some reason VM won't see my CPU as being 64bit, when I try running it I just get error messages. Maybe I'll try a different program besides VMware

Didn't MPC have an article about duel booting a couple months ago? I cannot seem to find it but I remember reading it.

Download Ubuntu. What OS are you using? If it is vista or windows 7, then type

Code:
diskmgmt.msc
into the search/run box, right click on the C: drive, and select "shrink partition", and shrink the partion by between 10-20GB. Then run the install cd, follow the steps, and select the empty space when you get to the partition manager. A boot loader will install automatically.

I dont like todays graph at all. Yesterday quickone got even higher than both days he was scared of before. My SMP was down for the night, so I didnt finish my 1920 pointer for the day, Its coming soon though...

Did you both get Ubuntu or a VM running?

I've had VM going. Ive been thinkin of using ubuntu, but I havn't really had the time to install an OS.

With ubuntu and SMP, can you use any number of cores with the smp flag, or does it have to be an even amount? The way I get the best PPD is leaving one core free for GPU (even if I set the priorities and affinities properly) so I was thinking of using ubuntu so I can set -smp 3.

No.

Any insight on the possibility of -smp 3. I attempted to run a notfred with one core, and it did terrible. I expected half, or a little less than that, but it ran at less than 25% the speed of one with 2 cores. I know its made for multi core, but that surprised me.
