Sure, il offer up my computer for 3 days to the winner (Il match the time done by the loser). After that, we can can race to 500, together. By then, we should have been all caught up, except for the loser of this race, who by definition will not get the advantage for the next one.

If I cannot get my CPU folding reliably and close this 1000ppd difference it is going to be a R3D88 runaway victory.

Although, the WU my laptop started 3 days ago is almost done 288/300. That could somehow be at 3000pt WU right? 8)

Yea, unless you find something good soon, this wont be much of a race. Scared that you would be hard to beat (and possibly upgrade your folding hardware) I tried new things.

First thing I did was OC my CPU. Not a lot, but it went fron 2.4 to 2.92GHz.

Then, I got my CPU from 940ppd on 2 cores to over 2000. All I had to do was type fold64 instead of fold in VM player. I never saw anything say to type 64, so I figured my OS is only 32 bit, I couldnt run the 64bit one. Wrong, and glad I was.

I also got my last PC goin. 2.8Ghz P4 @ 3.08Ghz. As Ive said elsewhere, I started and was only getting like 250ppd... We'll that went up to 430ish I think for a while when I put 2 CPU clients on it, but then I remembered what GPU was in it... a Radeon 2600?!? Do those fold??? I looked online and was really happy to see that it was the first ATI card to fold! Anyways, its AGP, and not super fast, but it still bumpped that pc from 430 to approx 700ppd!

Well my main GPU (2000ppd+) was just down for 10 hours, so thatll help ya a lil.

I was originally folding on an ATI 2600. I used to have 2 old computers at my parents house then they moved from MI to SC and threw them out. Those would have been great for GPU folding...

For whatever reason VMplayer does not recognize my CPU as being 64bit. If I run the benchmark it will say it is a Q9300, but folding it tells me it is a PIII or something like that, so I'm sure that is KILLING my ppd.

I just checked with FAHmon and it said my laptop is doing 300ppd, maybe I will keep it going.

Definitely have to figure out this CPU folding otherwise this is going to be a shit show

Yea, my "active" clients on FAHs stats page says 10 now, but I only have 7. As I said though, one of them is doing 160ish, another 200ish, and one of them only runs 2-4hours a day.

My 24 hour average is down a little, as I had my computer off for a few days. IT is usually around 3000-3500.

Whats going on quickone86? You haven't been this low in over a week. My smp and other gpu clients are starting to pay off though. I hope you can find something to help you and make it interesting.

finally got my CPU folding well, I got SMP set up this morning after VMware hung for the last 14 hours or so and my regular FAH on my other two cores couldn't download a new WU, so it was a rough evening/night for the PPD.

I have my CPU up to about 1400ppd so that should even things a bit more. Although, that 6300pt day you had yesterday will be hard to keep up with. Otaku16 is still speeding up, his weekly trend-line is damn near vertical.

Maybe I'll take a ride over to the Salvation Army and see if they have an old P4 with an open PCI-e slot, my 2600xt is just collecting dust since I got the 9600 GSO.

Nice work on the PPD increase, you have almost doubled from just a week ago

If your cpu is folding that much better, and you get that 2600 folding, I'll prolly be in trouble again.

These races are really good for finding little things to help you out. Both our ppds are goin up, so it doesn't really matter who wins (although I really wanna) its all goin to a good cause.

Gauntlets can increase your ppd exponentally.

Just look at how much mochong has increased in ppd

older gauntlet between me and mochong

Yea, he def took off. I cant do that though, if I had money for new computer parts, I would already have them... hehe... As I said, I do want a new GPU, but I cant yet. I've been thinking about switching to NVidia for a while now, but ATI has served me well since my 7500. Folding just might be what causes me to switch, I'll have to see what happens with the GPUv3 client first.

I have always liked ATI, they have been my last few cards, since the 2600 was only getting 400ppd I had to upgrade and everyone here talked about how many more points the nvidias bring in I figured I'd make the switch. It was a bit of trouble setting up at first, was not just a download and go, but there is a big difference in PPD.

I should be about 5000PPD now once everything gets reporting, those SMP WU are pretty big, about 2000pts they take my stock Q9300 a while day to process, and I got a 1888 pointer going on my GPU so pretty much nothing has been reported today. I'd like to OC my CPU but I'm locked out of it in my BIOS, I'd have to get a new mobo and I heard windows gets cranky about that

You're over 5k though, I've OCed my GPU about as much as it will go, I might open the window tonight and push it all the way, it is starting to get quite warm in there and in my room.

you can always underclock the core, and the memory, and overclock the shaders, its the core and memory that produce the most heat. and neither does anything for folding.

Really? I have those cranked up as well. I'll drop those down and bring up the shader clock a bit. Thanks for the tip!!

what video card are you running, and how many ppd does it usually make?

9600 GSO, max PPD is about 4k usually closer to 3k. Since I started my CPU folding it went down a but, it is now averaging 3200 according to FAHmon, getting more and more daring with the overclocking though.

On the xp computer that I run, I have to OC the core. There is no shader settings, just core and memory.
