So I have been happily folding along, passing up all the dead user names on my way to the more active >1000 section when I see R3D88 appear on my threats list. There has never been someone there before, so this is very disconcerting.

I'd like to have a race to top 1000, anyone in the 1800 area is welcome, him and I are around 4000PPD. If any other newbies would like to join in all the better, make this more interesting than just chugging along to that magical top 1000 spot.

Any takers?

R3D88 finally replied on another thread, I guess he has not found this section of the forum yet.

Spodie_Monk or leadv0cal you're more than welcome to join in, you're only a day or two ahead or behind and are about 3k-4k per day.

A battle of the newbies in the little league section (4k a day club if you will) Kind of like the Special Olympics of folding compared to you Usain Bolts out there

Yep, I'm here. I never ventured out of the main folding forum, until I saw your post on the Gauntlet, I just searched for it, and now I'm here.

I would also love if any other newbies joined in too. It would be fun to have 4 people racing to the top 1000.

First with a blue badge wins!

GO!

As you may have seen elsewhere in the forums, I just started folding on a 2.8ghzP4 (prescott OC'd to 3.09ghz with HT of course). It was only using 50%, so I tried the notfreds on it, got 100%, but only 224ppd, so now I'm trying regular CPU clients, we will see how that goes...

As of 3am, I should catch you in 1.1 days, but judging by how your WUs come in, you will prolly have another 1800-2400points in the next update or 2.

Still a long time till 1000

I got a WU I have never seen before, it isn't like the slow as hell 2000pointer that shows up as 8000, my GPU is cranking through this one but it is just huge. Of course Stanford is updating so I cannot see what went on through the night. I did an experiment before going to bed, I'm anxious to see how it turned out.

So what is it we're betting, pride and glory or...?

I'm curious to see what my electric bill will be this month compared to last.

Ive seen people bet a few days folding time. Loser folds under the others name for X amount of days. I could prolly be okay for that, we just have to decide on how many. Othewise, its up to you, pride and glory work too...

PS leadv0cal is on your threats list now, I'd say we could invite him, but it looks like if he started to run 24/7, we may be toast... I ould be wrong though.

Here quickone86's graph(in blue) overlayed on top of mine. I made sure to align the points on the side since the graphs were originally on a different scale.

As you can see, Its pretty close right now. I'll prolly do this again soon to keep it up to date, and with higher quality(current image is uploaded to myspace, I'll try and use photobucket or image shack later.)

Hope you like the hybrid graph!

I might add a little spice into this. I am offering up my:
1. A core i7 920 (24 hours, no notfreds)
2. 4850 (18 hours a day)

This would be for only 24 hours :D

One of them will go to each one of your usernames. Pick a number, between 1-10. And then you will see which one goes to which. Dont pick the same number. If either of you would rather just fold under your own steam, then just say so, and I wont give anything to anyone.

I think we should keep it each man to his own, but if your up for it, I think that your folding could go to the winner. Both CPU and GPU for 24hours to whoever gets there first.

What do you think?
And where did quickone go?

get passkeys, fold 10 WU's under a notfred's smp client each (remember to put in the passkey), and the winner may see an extra 50k points under his or her name a few days after

What is a passkey, and how would you get 50k points? That's more than either of us already have.

I got a REALLY crappy WU on a CPU client[Project: 4439 (Run 675, Clone 4, Gen 37)]. Its getting 254ppd instead of the usual 450+.

Oh well. Itll soon pass.

Fixed up the graph a bit, they will look like this from now on. (Maybe a bit better, but close.) I put me in red(makes it easy to remember with my name, huh?) and quickone in blue, as you can tell by the revised key. His line was also a LITTLE bit off, but I fixed that, and now know to look for that problem.

Hope you like it.

PS. If you would like a different color quickone, just ask, its real easy to change.

wow, I am impressed with your graph overlaying skills.

That 6k day you had there makes me a little nervous, I'm pretty sure I can get another 500 to 1000 ppd out of my CPU but I'd have a hard time making up that difference. Once all my projects with BOINC are done I am going to start folding on my Q9300, I put one VM on there to test it out last night, although I don't think it is running correctly. That'll be for tomorrow after I get out of class.

leadv0cal and Otaku16 are both in my rear-view, Otaku16 put out 7300 in the last 24h, he'll be cursing on by before to long

I'm good with folding for the winner for a couple days, say 3 days? 8 clients seriously? Those better be on a Ti-89 or I'm screwed! I'd agree for right now getting to top 1000 on our own, after that we can get creative for getting to top 500.

What is a passkey and how does it lead to 50k? Because that is about 2 weeks of work and 1.5x what we currently have.

I'll keep those graphs commin every day or 2, nice for comparison, so your cool with blue?

Yea, everything finished that day, I was really happy with it.

3 days sounds good, and hopefully Grim Tuesday could offer up his for a day like I mentioned.

I don't have 8, I've been using different clients trying to get a lil boost, so some of those ran 1 WU and then I changed clients. It will probably go up another one or 2 soon, but then drop after 7 and 50 days. 2 of them are only doing 150ish too.

I don't know if I like the passkey idea, it sounds really cool, but almost seems like cheating...

I cannot get FAHmon to work, I set it up like the website said but both clients are black with no information. One is a GPU the other a VM.

Also, I set up the VMWare Player using Ruredees guide, when I start VMWare it says VM is disabled on my computer but my CPU supports it. The message goes away after a few seconds and my CPU fires up so it is using resources. Was hoping to use FAHMon to see what it is doing but that isn't working either

Tedster? Chumly? Grim? You all have been extremely helpful so far, any insight?

I hear sometimes you gotta enable VM in the BIOS. Did you do that?

I'm happy with blue, maybe if you could throw some maze in there too that would just fantastic

I have seen passkey mentioned a lot around the forum, not 100% sure what it was, I thought it was just another monitoring tool, not sure exactly though.

We still have about 75k left to go to top 1000, as of right now, I'm sure that will be higher by the time we get there, this is like a 3 week endeavor.

Yeah, it is enabled I'm worried that is is disabled by default. I was going to build my first computer from scratch and was talking to my parents about it and they decided to surprise me with a Dell. I replaced the RAM, GPU odds and ends like that and the CPU is all the same. I just heard they use shitty Mobo, PSUs and gimp them in the BIOS, I was thinking about getting those new and transferring all my stuff over. I know I'm under powering my 9600 GSO, my PSU is 50w less then the minimum. God only knows what heat sink they used, that will probably get swapped out.
