What model of laptop do you have? In some cases, you can just get another keyboard to replace the one you have. Otherwise, it would entail lots of soldering and a whole new set of keys. Most laptop keyboards don't come with see-through keys to let the light through.

This is related but I just don't know how much. :P
The new Asus G51VX-RX05 has a backlight keyboard shown here and it does certainly look amazing. There have been talks that since its the same formfactor as older G-models, you can just swap out the keyboard of this model and put it in a older model. If you keep moving past the keyboard on the second link, this same question comes up.

So if you can find a laptop with the same dimensions and a back lit keyboard this is most certainly do-able. I'm am actually hoping to do to above actually sometime soon. :D

Yeah, you could probably order that keyboard and add it to your lappy.

:D :D :D

Hopefully thats just one of the upgrades you have in mind, I'm also planning the add more stuff to it. :P

Yeah I want to up the hard drive to a small SSD, get rid of the DVD burner and replace it with a 750GB 5400 RPM drive for storage, up the CPU to the T9600, and upgrade the keyboard.

Oh and I want to get a leather skin for it :P

BTW, I don't think that the keyboard will work with your G50. The G50 and G51's keyboards are a slightly different layout. The G51 has the same layout as the N50 though

Sweet, yeah I'm thinking about adding an SSD for a boot drive and move the 7200 rpm as data, and swap the DVD drive for Blu-rays. :P

And the keyboard WILL fit, or I will make it. :D

Thanks, but this mod won't be on its feet anytime soon. Asus doesn't (as far as I know) sell the keyboards yet and SSD/Blue-ray is expensive atm. But you have my guarantee it will be done. :D

My "mod" will be pretty boring. All the parts are just dropped in.

Ahh, I almost forgot! I'm also adding internal bluetooth (sadly it wasn't standard), and new CPU and GPU. :D

It also has "gamer" lights which I may or may not change to a different color (It's white atm). The lid has a tribal lighting bolt decal which I will try to match. (the LED to a blacklight... is that possible?)

New GPU? forgetaboutit. I realize that it's MXM, but the G50's cooling system just won't handle the GTX260m from the G51, without burning a hole in your desk/table/leg.

Hehe, I've already OC past stocks :D (yeah on a Laptop hell yea!) and might volt mod it. Right now, I've only seen highs of 96C and can probably do more. The heat doesn't bother me as its out on the left side and on the bottom is the intake actually so no burning tables here. :P
