I have been doing some very basic web design and one of my friends has asked me to make a sort of database for her.

Basically she runs a healthy food order site for her local business. She wants to make it so on her website people sign up for a certain amount of "meals" and then every week she wants a total amount of each meals that everyone wants. So like basically she wants a table with each individual order then totals at the bottom.

Is there a simple way to do this?

I'm going to re do the form cause its not very user friendly, but how would I make that database of info for her?

So it sounds like she wants a simple spreadsheet that has orders on the y-axis and the different options along the x-axis and then have it self populated every time a customer makes an order.

I'd suggest storing the data in a mysql database then either creating a script to dump what you need into a comma separated value (csv) file. Then load that csv file in Excel or OpenOffice calc. Alternatively, you can try making a php generated html table that pulls it values straight from mysql.

Looks like the website is hosted by GoDaddy. The first thing you likely want to do is see what platform the site is hosted on as in Microsoft, Linux or whatever? Then see what the specific web hosting plan supports as to a database as in MSSQL or MYSQL. Knowing that information will help in deciding how you want to go about this.

Next, when I order my beanies and weenies and click submit where does my order go? Is the form data (order form) dumped into a database? Emailed to the big oven?

If the site plan allows and supports it (which it should) and this is not to be a gigantic database, I would likely create a MS Access database with several tables and link to the tables from the form(s) you use. I would first map out everything with a pencil and paper and work from there. I might think about populating combo boxes from a central set of tables with breakfast, lunch, and dinner plus whatever including the cost with the item. Your call on all of that... pencil and paper.

The language is also your call as long as the site supports it.
