It seems to improve search results. Google is now returning a broader range of search results (images, videos, crap like that). I want my searches to return more refined results. The more specific the results, the less I have to sort through the mess of unrelated websites that are listed only because they hired and SEO to create 40,000 links to their site. Google lists sites based on how much money the site has to spend on SEO generated links. Yahoo and Bing tend to list sites based more on their content. That is what I want. I don't want to search for "baseball stats" and find out that Amazon and ebay are selling 2,000 books on "baseball stats." Then, when you go to those sites, you find that 99% of those books relate to "baseball" not "baseball stats." I'm ranting, but I hate sorting through the crap search results.

What Google are you using?

When I do a search for baseball stats, all I get are relevant baseball stat websites.

I've never had the problem with Google which you are describing.

Sorry, I pulled "Baseball Stats" out of thin air. I was using it to describe a common scenario I see with Google.

When you write “version of Google,â€

That's interesting. Whenever I search for things in google, it always returns me text results. I have to actually click the pic and video tab to get those results. I'm not logged in either.

What is really annoying to me as far as search results returned is when I search on something (rumor has it kind of thing )on a recent or highly current event and the only google search results links I get are the oned from 2005. Specific example of this happened just the other day I did a search on "Squeaky Fromme" shortly after hearing on CNN that they were planning on releasing her. The first ten results had no wiki article on fromme and the most recent link was a blog post from 2007 from someone who lived in Virginia about the 1987 escape attempt.

Where is the Google results for news stories talking about her release etc.

I have run into the same kind of thing whenever one of the conservative media folk highlight a conservative talking point topic and I do a google on that and boom first post is from ten years ago total of two maybe three google pages half of which are in cantonese.

Now THIS is a valid complaint and a result I have experienced myself with other search topics. Anyone know if there's anything to be done about it? Maybe a setting somewhere to show results in chronological order or something?

I find myself now alternating between the 2.

Try this site: http://bing-vs-google.com/

It lets you search between the two side by side.

I must say, I've tried both, on the same search in the past, and I did prefer Bing's results. They seemed more relevant to what I wanted. This is not to say I stopped using Google, in fact, I used it within the last minute actually. Google's site is more plain and less full of distractions. I just prefer the plain white page Google gives you than the picture Bing shows.

I don't like Bing, probably because I have been using google for 9 years and am use to google. Google looks like it is returning Bing type searches at the bottom.
