Anybody playing Far Cry 3 yet?

What are your opinions so far?

Please use the spoiler tags to hide any plot points.

I've played both Far Cry 1 and 2 and prefered number 2. So I am glad that number 3 seems to be more #2 than #1.

I've read a description of FC3 as being Skyrim with guns. So far I can agree with that assessment.

Yeah, I'm about 5 or 6 hours into it and enjoying it very much! I'm not sure I would say 'Skyrim with guns', though it does have a great open world to explore, and it looks amazing. If I were forced to rate it based on my experience so far I'd say 8.5/10.

Oh boy, zero-day updates.

Makes me wonder the time from printing the master disk to shipping the product is, because this is stupid. Even more so for digital copies.

I bought it off Steam and in order for me to play it I have to open Steam and then Steam opens Uplay and then I open FC3 in Uplay. :?

When viewing your inventory is there a way of seeing what can be crafted by each item? So far the only way that I know of is to go into the crafting menu and search each craft item and see what it takes to make it.

there are a few things I don't like, but all in all, I like it. finally shut it down at nine tonight, been up all night, just can't seem to shut it off.

32 hours straight on the first play, very stable, no lockups or glitches that I have discovered.

do not like skinning all the animals, to make upgrades, some of them I have seen no use for yet, like monitor lizards, and the big birds that attack you all the time.

played farcry2 to much and like going anywhere I want whenever I want. can't do that if your on a mission in 3.

ammo is a bitch, I need more. yes on the manufacturing upgrades, it is the only way to do it, and the ammo pouches are the hardest ones to get upgraded seems like, I have still only got the first one that is available. but I have all the holsters and weapons. and I hate doing side missions when I'm in the middle of a regular mission.

That's one of the things that I have to get used to is doing side missions.

I know they want you to do them but it always seem "impolite" to do them since your buddies are waiting for you to rescue them.

The tower side missions are easy ones to get out of the way since missions seem to be close to them.

Once I "finish" the game I'll most likely go back and play as many of the side missions as I can find.

As far as the crafting goes I don't mind it now that I've gotten used to the mechanics. Although I can't seem to find more dingos to finish off one item.

The komodo dragon hides are used for something I just don't remember what it is. It's most likely something like 3rd generation wallet or ammo holders. (Edit: Heavy Duty Grenade Pouch)

Spoiler: show
So I just found out that Vaas' sister is Citra. Of course this isn't just a simple coincedence so what do you think will happen between the two?
Could Citra betray us in the end?
Please post only theories and not what actually happens yet.

only found dingos once, shot two with the sniper gun, but by the time I got there, they had disappeared into the ground I suppose.

that is the one thing that keeps me playing farcry games, you get much more for your money. I can finish black ops, or any of the new release fps shooters in 6 to 8 hours of play. not farcry, there are days and days of play for the same price, I have about 50 hours of play in on farcry3 just in the regular missions, I have not played but a few of the side missions.

kept playing farcry2, from release all the way up to when 3 was released, and still have not found all the reward sites.

The problem I have with Call of Duty is it's a multiplayer twitch shooter... and I could care less about playing against others. So games like Far Cry 3 are a fresh addition to everything else out there.

Well, I wouldn't have that much of a problem if games like Call of Duty and Battlefield had online/LAN w/ bots. And I'm particularly upset that EA forced everyone to play BF online for no goddamn reason.

How true. I just played Far Cry 2 recently for the sole purpose of finding all of the diamond caches.

It was cool to see the gun shop fully loaded for once. :D

Another time I played Far Cry 2 just to see how long it would take in real time to walk from the North East corner of the first map to the South East corner of the second map.

So many cool things to try in an open world type game like Far Cry.

I finally finished the main story. Now on to all the side missions.

One of the things I'm going to do is look for cool places to fly with the wingsuit. You can go pretty far with it if you can find the right flight line.

I am not done with the main story yet, but I started doing the side missions and converting the enemy camps for the extra missions, only have one more gear upgrade with the blood dragon to go. with the suit a trip to the southern island is worth some extra "points". for uplay freebees, a 40 point bonus.

Those outpost challenges are cool in that you actually play against other players for the high score.

You could spend a few hours just to get the high score on one challenge. So multiply that by the 20 or so outposts and that's an entire game by itself.
