First off, you make it sound like ATI isn't fast (hello, Radeon X800 Platinum Edition?). Second off, I think you mean to say the GeForce FX series is fast. I wouldn't exactly call the GeForce 2 MX fast.

Anyways, what is new in DirectX 9.0c over DirectX 9.0b? When I run dxdiag in the "Run" command thing, it says I have DirectX 9.0c, but I didn't even know I updated to DirectX 9.0c from DirectX 9.0b. Was it a simple Windows Update or something?

i am not pissing off ATi users. i myself use a radeon 9800. it's juz that only the 6800 series video card currently support directx 9c.(9c has the new shader model 3.0). i remember MPC has explained the benefit of the new shader. you can also search toms hardware for the article about geforce 6800 video cards review, they had a list of the new functions too.

apparently some of the new pixel shader 3 stuff can be done in Pixel shader 2 without any performance loss.

Not to you guys, but for the listeners at home:
9.0c is backward compatible and your card doesn't need to have 9.0c features for you to upgrade.

"only the 6800 series video card currently support directx 9c" means that it mearly utilizes ALL of 9c while all the other cards can still run under DX9c.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program...
